Matt, the owner of a heritage shopfront turned residential home in Preston, entrusted Heritage Plumbing Group with an extensive restoration project. Built in 1904, the property required careful preservation of its historical character while addressing significant roofing and structural issues.
The project began by removing the rotten timber fascia on the east side of the lower rear roof. Our plumber, Lincoln, expertly installed a new timber fascia and custom Colourbond flashing above the rear entrance. The work was completed efficiently in a single day, leaving the site clean and debris-free.
Next, we turned our attention to the property’s chimney. We carefully removed bricks, measured and custom-fabricated Colorbond chimney capping, installed new flue piping, and refitted the chimney cowl. This ensured the chimney was secure and functional, all completed within a day.

One of the larger tasks involved replacing the lower back roof. The old roof sheets, flashings, gutters, and downpipes were removed, and new Colorbond roofing materials were installed. This included slotted gutters, downpipes, and a rain head, ensuring a durable and weatherproof solution.
The most extensive part of the project was the top-level roof replacement. Scaffolding was erected for safe access, and the old roofing materials were removed and replaced with new Colorbond sheets, flashings, and gutters. The addition of a Sisalation blanket provided enhanced insulation.
Finally, we installed a custom Colorbond fascia cover and a solar roof vent, adding functionality and aesthetic appeal to the property. The entire project, spanning two weeks, was completed to the highest standards, leaving Matt extremely satisfied with the results.
Heritage Plumbing Group is proud to have restored this historical property, combining modern roofing solutions with its timeless charm.
