We at Heritage Plumbing Group have been helping people around Melbourne for over a decade with all kinds of plumbing services. We recently installed a water meter for our returning client Mark in Reservoir. All went to plan, and Mark was very pleased with the results. Here’s how we did it.
The Problem
Mark’s water meter was basically right on the edge of his property, right next to the footpath. It was in an awkward spot, easily accessible to passersby, and vulnerable to potential damage. He was aware that it would become a headache in the future, and he wanted to eliminate any potential obstacles with future works at the property.
How We Fixed It
Mark called our scheduler Dylan in the afternoon of May 7, and Dylan was able to send our plumber Adrian out there the very next morning (within 18 hours of Mark’s initial phone call). Adrian was able to complete the work within an hour, showcasing the fast yet efficient service we are known for.
Our plumber Adrian assessed the job and determined where the best place to put the new meter was, what needed to be changed with the pipes, and figured out the most effective way to complete the works without making a mess. All work was compliant with both the VBA’s (Victorian Building Authority) standards, as well as the council’s regulations.
Getting the Job Done
Step 1: Digging and Prep
Adrian arrived at site at 7.30am, on time and ready to get the job done. He carefully dug around the existing pipes and made sure the garden was not destroyed in the process.
Step 2: Relocation Process
The water line was relocated to the new required position. Adrian placed the meter in at the correct depth, then placed a cover on top of the meter so that it would be easier to access down the track.
Step 3: Making Sure It All Works
Adrian tested the water pressure to ensure there were no leaks and that all connections were working properly.
Step 4: Cleaning Up
The site was thoroughly cleaned. Rubbish and tools were taken away, and Adrian left the place looking just like he found it.
How It Went
The job took just over an hour. Adrian was thorough, yet quick and efficient, and most importantly our client Mark was extremely happy with how the job went, and how quickly it was done.
What went well
The water was only off for just over an hour. There was no damage, and everything was completed by the book. Mark was thoroughly impressed by how quickly Adrian finished the work, he was grateful that his water was back on in such a short time and that the site was left in a tidy manner.
